Big Bear Voyage sails into Arbroath Signal Tower Museum
Arbroath is set to welcome a very special visitor this July as Big Bear Voyage 2026 arrives at the Signal Tower Museum in support of BBC Children in Need.
The inspiring fundraising journey has been organised by the skipper of Big Bear, who is celebrating his 70th birthday this year. Together with his wife Jackie, they have embarked on a mission to raise £70,000 for BBC Children in Need, supporting disadvantaged children and young people across the UK, with a particular focus on children’s mental health.
The campaign comes at a time when young people’s mental wellbeing is an increasingly important issue, reflecting BBC Children in Need’s recently launched mental health initiative.
The yacht ‘Big Bear’ set sail from Hamble on the south coast of England on 14 May with Pudsey Bear, the charity’s iconic mascot, on board. During the voyage, the crew will visit 35 ports across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, with Arbroath proudly included on the itinerary.
Visitors to the Signal Tower Museum will have the chance to meet Pudsey and his crew at 12 noon on Monday 6 July, helping to raise awareness and funds for children’s mental health.
Families, children and visitors are invited to come along, meet Pudsey, capture a memorable photograph and support this worthwhile cause. Donations for BBC Children in Need will be gratefully received throughout the visit.
Big Bear Voyage 2026 is not only an incredible sailing challenge but also an opportunity for communities across the country to come together in support of young people and their wellbeing.
