Our Local and Family History service records, researches and showcases the history of Angus and its people. Commissioned research services and digital collections reproductions have also recommenced.

We are open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am-4pm all year (Tuesday and Wednesday by appointment).

Our team are passionate about preserving the history of the county and are here to help people who wish to find out more about their family’s past, local history or would like to undertake further research on this fascinating county. Angus Archives

Located in a beautiful rural setting, Angus Archives is a treasure trove of 800 years of the history of Angus and its people. Our collections cover Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Montrose, Monifieth and rural areas across Angus.

Family History

Angus Archives is a great place to start or build on your family history. We have rich and varied sources to help the family historian. Our team have a wealth of experience to help you make the most of our unique documents, photographs and indexes.

Angus Archives has a vast index of resources available covering each major town. This highlights the resources spanning a variety of time periods and provides guidance on resources most useful to you. We also offer a series of articles on the general history of various towns and villages.
