Countryside Adventure

The Angus countryside is one of the most diverse in Scotland and we are passionate about making the most of it.

ANGUSalive manages several country parks and information centres all across Angus and these are located at Monikie, Crombie, Montrose, Glen Doll and Forfar Loch, and are staffed by the Countryside team.

Notices

There are concerns that there could be blue green algae on the reservoirs at Monikie Country Park. We are awaiting test results to confirm but as a precautionary measure, we have cancelled watersports and open water swimming for the coming days and have contacted those with bookings. We have been able to rearrange some water activities to take place at Crombie Country Park.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask that dog owners are also careful at this time and refrain from allowing dogs into the water. We have warning notices up and will keep you up-to-date on this situation.

The country parks at Monikie, Crombie and Forfar Loch suffered damage due to the storms earlier this year. Care should be taken when visiting the parks as remedial works are ongoing. Please avoid the wooded areas which are currently hazardous due to the storm damage.

Crombie Country Park is currently impassable and visitors are advised to walk elsewhere.

Glen Doll car park and the Corrie Fee Trail are open.

All other Forestry and Land Scotland waymarked trails remain closed due to storm damage at Glen Doll.

Mountain Access routes update – 20 May 2022 – Kilbo path is open, Corrie Fee Path is open, Dounalt Road is open (south side of upper White Water – this is an alternative for Jocks road, which remains closed).

Works to clear windblown trees from alongside the road to Bachnagairn at Moulzie are ongoing. This road is open but please take care when passing the worksite.

The Capel Road Track is blocked with trees at OS Grid Ref: NO 2841 7717. This may be bypassed by walking along the forest boundary wall between NO 2834 7763 to NO 2872 7771. Conditions on this alternative route are steep, rocky and rough underfoot.

For more detailed information on closures please phone the Ranger Base at Glen Doll on 01575 550233
