ANGUSalive encourages staff to take part in Summer of Sport Step Count Challenge

ANGUSalive employees are being encouraged to take part in a nationwide Step Count Challenge as Scotland celebrates a summer of major sporting events.

Organised by Walking Scotland, the Summer of Sport Step Count Challenge runs from Monday 6 July to Sunday 2 August 2026, inspiring people across the country to become more active while embracing the excitement of a summer featuring the Football World Cup, the Women’s Scottish Open and the Commonwealth Games.

The challenge is supported by funding from Sportscotlands Summer of Sport. The free, four-week challenge encourages participants to increase their daily activity by walking, wheeling or otherwise keeping active, with every step contributing towards their team’s overall total.

Teams representing each of ANGUSalive’s services will take part in the challenge, promoting friendly competition while encouraging colleagues to support one another and prioritise their health and wellbeing.

The initiative aims to encourage people of all abilities to incorporate more movement into their daily routines, highlighting the physical, mental and social benefits of being active.

Rhona Guild, Health Walk Co-ordinator at ANGUSalive, said: “The Summer of Sport Step Count Challenge is a fantastic way to get organisations and teams from across Scotland moving.

Every step counts, and by taking part we’re not only looking after our own health and wellbeing but also joining thousands of people across Scotland who are getting active together. We can’t wait to see everyone getting involved and sharing their journeys throughout the challenge.”

Throughout the four-week challenge, participating teams from ANGUSalive will be sharing photographs from their walks and activities on their Facebook channels, celebrating their progress and perhaps inspiring others to get involved.

By taking part, ANGUSalive staff will join communities across Scotland in demonstrating how small, everyday changes can have a positive impact on health, wellbeing and connection with others.
