Seriously Social: Putting People Above Profit
Since our inception back in 2015, ANGUSalive has been driven to deliver to the people of Angus, with community at the heart beat of everything we do. Today’s theme of the “Seriously Social” campaign is discussing how we put people over profits.
Community-Centric Services
At ANGUSalive, our services are designed with the Angus community in mind. You might be surprised to learn that our work is just about everywhere in Angus and you’ll often be close to some of our work, even if you don’t realise it!
Whether you’re a bACTIVE member in one of our leisure centres, you’ve visited an exhibition in one of our museums, took a stroll at one of our country parks – each facility is tailored to meet the needs of the people we serve.
Our programmes are never driven by the bottom line but by the goal of enhancing the quality of life for all.
Accessibility for All
One of our core principles is accessibility. We provide a whole range of free programmes which are designed to have a meaningful impact on people’s lives and support daily activity.
Our libraries for example, serve as vibrant community hubs – offering far more than just books. They are spaces where people of all ages can come together to learn, share, and grow. These are places where friendships are formed and remain.
Investing in Our Future
Instead of focusing solely on profit margins, ANGUSalive reinvests any surplus back into the community.
This means by choosing to use on of our services or by donating to ANGUSalive, you’re choosing to reinvest in our county. This reinvestment strategy allows us to continually improve our facilities, expand our programmes, and introduce new initiatives that address emerging community needs.
For instance, we’ve not sat still in our Sport & Leisure space where we have recently refurbished 6 of our gym settings over the last two years, introducing state of the art equipment alongside a stacked programme.
We have also invested in our new bar at the Webster Memorial Theatre, which at the time of typing is on the brink of being launched!
Employee and Volunteer Engagement
The people who work with us—whether they are employees or volunteers—are at the heart of our success. We are committed to providing a supportive and rewarding work environment that values their contributions. By investing in their development and well-being, we ensure that they are equipped to deliver the best possible service to the community.
Volunteering is an important part of our success. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and often, we’ve found that volunteering with us can often lead to full time employment.
Our colleague and football-daft Sam Nowosielski is a fine example of this.
