ANGUSalive to make a splash at Monikie Country Park with announcement of a new Aquapark
ANGUSalive have today announced the development of a new aquapark at Monikie Country Park, set to be launched at the beginning of May.
This exciting addition – the only one of its kind in Angus – promises to deliver visitors a thrilling experience on a giant inflatable feature in the country park’s north reservoir, installed by industry leading experts Watersports World, who have installed over 100 aquaparks in the UK.
In a fitting collaboration, local primary schools Monikie and Newbigging are playing a key role in this project by helping ANGUSalive name the aquapark. The pupils have also been invited to be one of the first users to experience it when it is ready.
In addition to providing an innovative recreational space that will benefit the local community and tourism in Angus, it will also build upon the current outdoor provision offered by ANGUSalive which people of all ages will benefit from in the county.
The project will also create 9 brand new jobs with 3-full time and 6 seasonal posts, with the posts now open for application.
Colin Knight, joint Acting Chief Executive for ANGUSalive commented:
“We are delighted to bring this exciting attraction to Monikie Country Park. Not only will the aquapark offer a unique recreational experience for visitors, but it will also enhance our community through job creation. As we know, Monikie is a popular destination for families, and this will add another reason to take in what we have to offer at this beautiful country park. It is the perfect location for this type of feature, and we can’t wait to see locals and visitors to Angus try it out.
“We are also extremely excited that local pupils are helping us name the aquapark and to welcome them as one of our first ever customers.”
Kellie Smith, Head Teacher of Monikie and Newbigging Primary Schools:
“Given that the country park is just a stone’s throw from our school, this is a very fitting project for our children and comes at an excellent time. As part of our Rights Respecting Schools plans this term, we are discussing article 12 – Ensuring Children’s Voices are Heard – and with them being able to help name the park, this certainly achieves that. It’s rewarding to know our pupils will form their own legacy, naming something that we hope will be really popular in the community and will be something they will always remember.”
ANGUSalive’s investment in the aquapark arrives at a time where leisure trusts up and down the country are facing financial challenges.
Colin Knight continued “As we know, organisations like ours are facing difficult decisions on a regular basis, due to the challenging financial climate we are currently operating in. However, investments like this are essential to ensure that we are living to our charity’s mission of inspiring healthy, active and creative lifestyle choices in our local community whilst also generating much required revenue to help our sustainability.”
The new aquapark at Monikie Country Park adds to the already popular range of outdoor activities that ANGUSalive provide which includes kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and open water swimming.
The aquapark will provide an exciting activity for a wide range of participants and will also serve as an ideal venue for school trips, corporate team-building activities, and family fun.
