Saltire Sports Centre set for redevelopment
ANGUSalive are pleased to announce that a renovation of their gym at Saltire Sports Centre in Arbroath is set to get underway on Monday 31 July.
Improvements to the gym facilities will include a fully refurbished space with the latest gym equipment from Life Fitness and Indigo Fitness, as well as cardio and fixed resistance machines, multi-functional training rigs, colour-coded training zones and enhanced audio and visual solutions. The redeveloped spaces will also feature the latest technology including Myzone, an accurate fitness tracker and online social platform that rewards effort for all physical activity.
The redevelopment will also see a major overhaul of the space which is used by Dundee & Angus College, who use the facility to put theory in to practice across a range of their sport and fitness programmes.
To enable this major redevelopment work to be carried out, the gym at Saltire Sports Centre will close on Sunday 30 July, with the works scheduled to last 4 weeks and a re-open date to be confirmed imminently.
Lesley Hadden, Project Lead for ANGUSalive said; “We are delighted that so quickly after announcing similar refurbishment projects at Forfar Community Campus and Carnoustie Sports Centre, we are able to announce the redevelopment of the Saltire Sports Centre in Arbroath. It is a solid indicator that we are continuing to invest in our services to give the Angus community modern facilities they can be proud of. The redevelopment of this facility will mean the bACTIVE community have two exceptional locations in Arbroath which they can use to achieve their health and fitness goals, and we can’t wait for the project to get underway.
Julie Aitken, Operations Lead, ANGUSalive said; “The Saltire Sports Centre is in such a great location and plays an important role within the Arbroath community. It also plays a crucial role in the development of the students at Dundee & Angus, who we are delighted to partner with. Our staff are very excited to work in this new, contemporary fitness suite and are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new once it re-opens.”
Sarah Ramminger, Head of Curriculum and Quality for Sports and Fitness at Dundee & Angus College said; “We are delighted to be collaborating with our partners at ANGUSalive on this refurbishment. Many of our sports and fitness students are regularly based here throughout their programme and by giving them state-of-the-art equipment, this will support them in putting what they’ve learned in the classroom into action, whilst providing them an even better student experience. The development arrives at a perfect time and will be open for our new cohort of students when the new term starts – we can’t wait to see the finished project.”
This latest gym refurbishment follows other major renovations that ANGUSalive have completed in the last 12 months at Arbroath Sports Centre, Brechin Community Campus and Montrose Sports Centre as part of a significant investment programme to upgrade and revitalise its Sport & Leisure portfolio.
Forfar Community Campus and Carnoustie Sports Centre are also undergoing refurbishments, re-opening on 1 July and 2 September respectively.
