ANGUSalive serves up Pride Month Pickleball event in partnership with Dundee Deuces, Leap Sports and Pickleball Scotland

ANGUSalive is celebrating Pride Month this June by partnering with Dundee Deuces, Leap Sports Scotland and Pickleball Scotland to host a special Pickleball taster and open session at Forfar Community Campus on Wednesday 17 June.

The event forms part of Leap Sports Scotland’s Festival Fortnight, an annual programme of activities celebrating LGBTQ+ participation and inclusion in sport across Scotland.

Designed to be welcoming and accessible, the relaxed session is suitable for both complete beginners and those returning to the sport. Participants will receive guidance from an accredited coach, helping them learn the basics, develop their skills and build confidence on the court.

As well as offering an opportunity to try one of Scotland’s fastest-growing sports, the event aims to bring people together in a friendly and inclusive environment where participants can enjoy the social side of sport and make new connections.

Adding to the occasion, members of Dundee Deuces, Scotland’s LGBTQ+ multisport club, will be making the trip to Angus to join in the fun.

Ross Taylor, ANGUSalive Community Sports Hub Co-ordinator, said: “Pride Month is an important opportunity to celebrate diversity, inclusion and community. We are delighted to be working alongside Dundee Deuces, LEAP Sports Scotland and Pickleball Scotland to offer an event that welcomes everyone, regardless of experience or background. Pickleball is a fantastic sport that combines fun, fitness and social connection, and we hope this session encourages people to give it a go, meet new people and enjoy being active in a supportive environment.”

Wesley Rennison of Dundee Deuces said: “Pride is about being proud of who we are. It’s about being visible to those who can’t be, so they feel less alone. Allies like those in ANGUSAlive and Pickleball Scotland are really important for helping sport and exercise be a safer place for LGBTIQ+ people – a place where we belong and can be ourselves.  This taster session in Forfar is about being ourselves and having some fun playing pickleball  – both with our community and with our allies.”

The session will take place at Forfar Community Campus on Wednesday 17 June from 6pm – 8pm. Whether participants come for the sport, the social atmosphere or both, they can expect a warm welcome and plenty of fun.
