ANGUSalive launch Digital Archive & Museum Collection
ANGUSalive is pleased to announce the launch of their Digital Archive and Museum Collections.
This is an online portal that offers users an unprecedented opportunity to delve into the history and culture of Angus from the comfort of their own homes.
The new online platform provides access to a vast array of historical material – spanning centuries of Angus’s rich heritage – as well as other items from across the world. This includes rare documents, vintage photographs and cultural artefacts at the click of a button. They can also book in time with the ANGUSalive team to view these items in person.
Craig Pearson, Archives & Local History Lead said “We are thrilled to launch this project, which we see as a contemporary way to learn more about our history in Angus. Nothing will ever beat seeing ‘the real thing’, however we recognise that with technology at our fingertips we’re now able to showcase this heritage to an even wider audience. This is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to make our collections more accessible to the public.”
Emma Gilliland, Museums & Galleries Collections Lead said, “This project has been several years in the making and we have been extremely meticulous in our work on this. With the sheer volume of items that we have in our collections, this was always going to be a timely process but we are delighted that it is now launched for people to enjoy. Not everything is yet on the database, we are constantly working hard to enhance the number of records available but whether you’re a history enthusiast, a student, or simply curious about the heritage of Angus, we’re convinced there’s something for everyone to discover.”
