Monikie and Newbigging Primary School make a splash at new Aquapark
Pupils from Monikie and Newbigging Primary Schools were the first to “make a splash” at ANGUSalive’s brand new £135k inflatable aquapark – Angus Aqua Splash – at Monikie Country Park.
The children were invited to be the first ever to use the inflatable obstacle course – based at Monikie’s north reservoir – as they played a key role in naming the park during the early stages of the project.
The exciting new addition to the area has also created nine new local jobs and is expected to attract visitors from across Angus and beyond after it opens officially to the public on May 3.
Colin Knight, Senior Manager at ANGUSalive, said:
“We are so close to opening Angus Aqua Splash and to see the pupils from Monikie and Newbigging Primary Schools enjoy the experience was everything we had hoped for. This is a very exciting project which we are sure the community and visitors to Angus will be excited to try and it feels very fitting that the children who helped us name the park are the first to test it out – they’ve been part of the journey from the beginning.”
Kellie Smith, Headteacher at both Monikie and Newbigging Primary Schools, added:
“Our pupils were thrilled to be involved in this project and loved being the first to try out Angus Aqua Splash. When we were first approached about this project we were able to introduce this as part of our Rights Respecting Schools plans. Part of this was Article 12 – ensuring children’s voices are heard and with them being able to help name the park, we think we have achieved that. It’s been a fun and memorable experience that they won’t forget – and it’s fantastic to see such a great facility open up right on our doorstep.”
Angus Aqua Splash features a giant inflatable obstacle course on the water at Monikie Country Park, designed for high-energy, family-friendly fun in the great outdoors. It is suitable for ages 6+ and adds to ANGUSalive’s Countryside Adventure outdoor activity offering.
Bookings are now open, and the attraction will be available to the public from Saturday 3 May. For more details and to secure your spot, visit: https://angusalive.scot/aquapark
