Going Forward – An exhibition by Monifieth Art Society

ANGUSalive’s Museums & Galleries team welcomes Monifieth Art Society to their second exhibition at the Lochty Gallery, Carnoustie Library.

Monifieth Art Society first opened its doors in the mid 1970’s and in its heyday had over 50 members.

The aim of the Society is to encourage creativity  in and around the local area in a safe, welcoming and friendly environment.

Members work with a variety of materials, Acrylics, Oils, Pastels, Textiles, Mixed Media etc, and styles vary dramatically.

Museums, Galleries & Archives Exhibitions Lead, Meghann Logue said, ‘We are delighted to welcome Monifieth Art Society to their second exhibition at the Lochty Gallery. It is a pleasure to once again showcase the creativity and skill of Monifieth Art Society. From paintings of dramatic landscapes to charming animals, there is something to appeal to everyone.”

Monifieth Art Society said, ‘As the name “GOING FORWARD” suggests we would like to encourage new members to join us as we have had a very exciting programme so far this year, including demonstrations by Jonathan Mitchell, Linda Brownlee and Sarah Reid – workshops with Adam Reid on Portraiture and  Linda Marshall doing a felting workshop.   More ideas are in the pipeline.  We also have work nights, and themed nights including a Beetle Drive which was amazing fun.

We meet in Monifieth every second Wednesday evening and have a social coffee morning every other Monday morning in a local Hotel lounge. Our Exhibition in Lochty Gallery, Carnoustie, will be a celebration of our members talents and the highlight of our year.”

Monifieth Art Society will be exhibiting from Saturday 29 March – Saturday 28 June 2025 at the Lochty Gallery within Carnoustie Library. Opening hours can be found here.
