Exciting New Sensory Services for ANGUSalive Libraries in 2025

Families across Angus are in for a treat as ANGUSalive Libraries, in partnership with Disability and Inclusion, have successfully secured funding through a Public Libraries Improvement Fund (PLIF) bid to launch and expand their much-loved Sensory Services in 2025.

The funding will enable the purchase and creation of sensory bags which will be available for loan throughout our libraries, mobiles and can be delivered to home settings through our home delivery service.  Keep your eyes peeled for the launch of our new sensory bags late Spring/Early Summer.

We are also starting to deliver new themed sensory sessions for various age groups offering an engaging and interactive environment for young children. Each location will host five specially themed sessions, designed to stimulate the senses and encourage exploration. Themes will include light and dark, hot and cold, touch, smell, and sound, creating a rich and immersive experience for attendees.

A fantastic interactive experience, with lots of opportunities to spark curiosity.  Very welcoming atmosphere for all to get involved” (Ferguson Family)

These 45-minute sessions will be delivered by the Libraries’ Children’s Learning Advisors (CLAs) and will cater to two age groups: 0–2 years and 3–5 years. There is also potential for expanding to older age groups if there is sufficient demand.

The first of these new themed sensory sessions has now launched at Brechin and Forfar Library and will move on to other locations across Angus after the Easter holidays.

Brechin Library – 17/02, 03/03, 17/03 and 31/03

Forfar Library – 24/02, 10/03, 24/03 and 07/04

Families eager to take part in this exciting new initiative can find session details and book their spots by visiting www.angusalive.scot/whats-on. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity for little ones to engage, explore, and learn through sensory play in a welcoming library setting!
