"... once you've done the hard work and you get to those goals, that's an amazing feeling."
Diane's Story
After living with severe catamenial asthma for 20 years and spending 13 months in hospital, Diane was left with very limited mobility, poor muscle strength, and little confidence. Determined to rebuild her life, she began with simple sit-to-stand exercises at home before taking the brave step of visiting her local sports centre.
Despite using a wheelchair, being on oxygen, and feeling nervous about returning to exercise, the support and encouragement she received from staff inspired her to join the Live Well programme. What started with swimming and seated exercise classes grew into a four-year journey of improved health, weight loss, strength, and confidence.
Along the way, Diane found lifelong friends, supportive instructors, and a community that believed in her goals. Today, she is healthier, more mobile, employed as a swimming teacher, and doing a job she loves. Her message is simple: no matter how big or small your goal, keep taking steps forward. With determination, support, and persistence, incredible things are possible.
That’s Diane’s story. What’s yours?
