Theatre Stars School welcome West End Star Norman Bowman as Patron

ANGUSalive’s Theatre Stars School are excited to welcome West End Star, Norman Bowman, as Patron of the School which is based at Arbroath’s Webster Memorial Theatre.

Theatre Stars School was founded in April 2023 for 5 – 16 year-olds who have an interest in learning and improving stage skills. The dynamic classes are designed to develop youth confidence and improve health and fitness whilst learning fantastic performing skills in a safe and encouraging environment. All of this helps to develop important social skills for students to take with them into the real world.

For the last 7 weeks, the school have been rehearsing for their upcoming performance of Madagascar JR: A Musical Adventure. This show also features a voice-over from Norman.

Norman was born and raised in Arbroath before being awarded a scholarship to train in Musical Theatre at The London Academy of Performing Arts. He has since appeared in numerous stage and screen productions including touring as Danny Zuko in Grease and Marius in the West End production of Les Miserables to name just a couple.

Theatre Stars School were delighted when Norman joined them on Tuesday 24 October to see how rehearsals were getting on.  He told the kids about his journey into Musical Theatre and some stories of what has happened during his career.  Norman invited questions from the kids for a Q&A session with lots of different questions being asked.

Norman said: “It’s the biggest flattery in the world to be asked to be Patron of the school. As a representative of something that I love, anything that comes from being able to spread the joy of what I do for a living is always a bonus.

“It’s always heartening to see how many kids are still interested in performing. Madagscar is a great choice, what kid doesn’t want to be an animal!”

Claire Drummie, Duty Manager with ANGUSalive Theatre and Venue’s said “We’re delighted to have Norman on board as Patron of Theatre Stars School. The kids were elated to perform for him on Tuesday and his talk left them all buzzing with excitement. He may have inspired a future West End Star or two!”

Tickets for Madagascar JR on Saturday 3 February 2024 are on sale now and can be purchased at https://angusalive.scot/discover-theatre/
