Scottish Women And Girls In Sport Week 2024
Monday 30 September – Sunday 6 October
What is Scottish Women And Girls In Sport Week?
This annual campaign is now in its eighth year and is firmly established as a highly recognisable campaign supported by sportscotland, Scottish Governing Bodies, Active Schools and wider key partners, engaging and building content around the Week annually.
This year’s theme is ‘Leadership’
This year, Women in Sport Week provides an opportunity to celebrate the many ways that women and girls can be leaders and why that is important. We will continue to promote the visibility and participation of women and girls in sport and physical activity, and highlight the many health benefits it can bring to physical, mental and social health.
Case Studies
We recently caught up with some of our female employees to ask them about their experiences of working within a Sport & Leisure environment.
Read our staff’s stories and find out about their roles within ANGUSalive, inspiration to pursue a career in the industry, challenges they have faced and accomplishments they have achieved.
ANGUSalive aim to promote women and girls in leadership by fostering an inclusive culture!
- It is vital we have male and female leaders and mentors in sport who drive change for women and girls, whether they are friends or family members, community leaders or coaches, and especially those sitting at the boardroom table.
- You cannot be what you cannot see. Increasing visibility of women in leadership can create a ripple effect, empowering and inspiring others to participate and take on leadership roles.
- It is important that decision-makers recognise the value of women leaders by reducing barriers to positions of power and providing opportunities for women leaders to thrive.
- Male and female leaders can drive change as mentors and role models for women and girls in sport by speaking out, encouraging participation, sharing experiences, and helping to overcome barriers and challenges.
