Pickleball extended across Angus

Following the successful launch of Pickleball at Brechin and Carnoustie Sports Centre, ANGUSalive are pleased to extend the popular racquet sport to Forfar, Kirriemuir, Montrose and Saltire Sports Centres.

Since 1 July 2024, over 52 sessions of Pickleball have been enjoyed by 984 people at Brechin and Carnoustie Sports Centres.

Pickleball was invented in the USA over 50 years ago by a family who named it after their dog Pickles. It uses elements of racquet skills from tennis, squash, badminton and table tennis.  The rules and scoring system also mean that pickleball is much more inclusive for the young and not-so-young, making this a fantastic family activity for everyone to enjoy.

Ross Taylor, ANGUSalive Community Sport Hub Co-ordinator said:

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer Pickleball in every town where we have a Sports Centre in Angus. Pickleball is a great, fun way to socialise whilst exercising at the same time and we hope that more people will be able to join us for a game now that it’s more accessible across Angus.”

The first week’s sessions in each venue are being delivered as a “taster” session by Ross, where you can learn the basic technique, rules and scoring systems to be able to play with other people straight away.

Bookings can be made on the ANGUSalive app.
