Mexican food with a Scottish twist at Crombie Country Park

Crombie Country Park has just got even tastier!
Visitors at beautiful Crombie Country Park can now enjoy a delicious bite and a freshly brewed coffee while soaking in the park’s natural beauty, thanks to the arrival of the Zacatecas Food Trailer.

Zacatecas is the brainchild of chef David Lowe, where he looks to bring the fusion of two very different cultures to the park’s scenic surroundings.

Originally from New Mexico City, David has been inspired to bring his Mexican roots to Crombie, infusing Mexican and Scottish cuisines together. An experienced chef, he has previously worked in restaurants in Angus including Forbes of Kingennie, Panmure Golf Club and most recently was the head chef at Glamis Castle. His latest venture however – named after the Mexican state close to his childhood home – is something close to his heart and where his passion truly lies.

David’s vision is to craft a contemporary menu that showcases the best of both worlds, from comforting quesadillas to indulgent cakes—all with a Scottish spin. David explained “Zacatecas is all about merging my journeys from Mexico to Scotland into something people will really enjoy. It’s early days, but we’ve been delighted with the feedback and our top hits so far have been our quesadillas packed with tender, slow-cooked Angus beef and our Mexican tres leches cake.”

Iain Stevens, acting CEO of ANGUSalive has shared his enthusiasm for the venture. “We’re thrilled to have Zacatecas at Crombie Country Park. This exciting addition will no doubt add to the joy of visiting our park and comes hot off the heels of having the recent the XC Mountain Biking Event that we hosted. Crombie is getting a real buzz again and this will certainly add to it.”

Zacatecas is open every Saturday and Sunday beside the Rangers Lodge at Crombie Park and is ready to welcome you. For their latest updates follow the Zacatecas Food Trailer Facebook page.
