Celebrating the power of community with Walking Sports
To mark Mental Health Awareness Week and to celebrate the power of community to the mental wellbeing of Angus residents, ANGUSalive Forfar Community Sports Club in partnership with Angus Health & Social Care Partnership, are holding a Walking Sports Event at Station Park, Forfar.
This is an opportunity for community groups, services and the wider public to take part in some fun recreational walking sports activities.
Mental health thrives when people feel connected and this event gives people the chance to meet others, share experiences, and reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation.
Angus Councillor Julie Bell, who is also the Public Health Scotland Champion for Mental Health and Wellbeing, said: “There are many ways to be involved with the community in Angus, be it sports, arts, volunteering, in nature or with any other activity group. Being involved and connected with a group of likeminded people helps to improve self-esteem, increase resilience and can provide new opportunities along the way.
“I’m looking forward to attending the Walking Sports Event on Friday 16 May, along with more than 80 others who have registered for the event. Thank you to everyone involved in arranging this for the Angus community.”
