Mental Health Awareness Week 2025

It’s Mental Health Awareness week 2025 – from Monday 12 May to Sunday 18 May – a time dedicated to shedding light on the importance community activities to the mental wellbeing of the Angus community.

Alongside our partners at Angus Council and Angus Health & Social Care Partnership, we will be sharing content and signposting you to a range of services and activities that are available to you.

How ANGUSalive Supports Mental Health Through Community Connection

At ANGUSalive, we believe that strong communities build strong minds.

As the culture, sport, and leisure trust for Angus, we provide more than just activities—we offer connection, creativity, and care that supports positive mental health for everyone in our local area.

Mental health thrives when people feel connected. Whether it’s joining a local fitness class, attending a library activity, or taking part in an art workshop, ANGUSalive gives people the chance to meet others, share experiences, and reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation.

Our leisure centres, swimming pools and exercise programs make it easy to stay active. Regular movement isn’t just good for the body—it releases endorphins that help manage anxiety, lift mood, and build mental resilience. Whether you’re a gym-goer or just starting out, there’s something for every level.

Lifelong Learning, Lifelong Confidence

Exploring your creative side can be a powerful way to process emotions and boost self-esteem. Through museums, art spaces and libraries and Theatre, ANGUSalive provides safe and inspiring environments for people to express themselves, try something new and find joy in the arts.

Libraries, learning and communities are at the heart of ANGUSalive. Libraries encourage people of all ages to discover new interests, gain knowledge and feel a sense of accomplishment. Learning helps keep the mind sharp and provides purpose—both vital for mental wellbeing.

We have two mobile libraries which serve the residents of rural Angus, providing a traditional lending service as well as supporting partners to deliver health and wellbeing information sessions.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

Supporting Families and Young People

Feeling safe and accepted is crucial for mental health. ANGUSalive is committed to creating inclusive, non-judgmental spaces where everyone is welcome, no matter their background or challenges. These community hubs can be a vital lifeline for those facing difficulties.

From junior sports and activities to Theatre Stars School, ANGUSalive supports children and families with opportunities for fun, learning, and bonding. These positive experiences help build emotional resilience from a young age and strengthen family wellbeing.
