The Big Angus Walk & Talk

The Big Angus Walk & Talk Celebrates Volunteers and Health Walk Success in Monikie Country Park

What an incredible day it was at the Big Angus Walk & Talk, held on Tuesday 3 June, at the picturesque Monikie Country Park! Nearly 60 attendees from Health Walks across Angus, including members of Healthy Steps Angus, came together to celebrate National Volunteers Week 2025 with an uplifting afternoon of fresh air, friendship, and festivities.

The event kicked off with a scenic walk around Monikie Country Park. Despite a blustery breeze, the atmosphere was vibrant and inspiring, with the powerful imagery of such a large group walking and talking together underscoring the strength of community and shared commitment to health. The walk highlighted the positive impact Health Walks have on physical activity, social connection, and mental wellbeing throughout the region.

Following the walk, everyone enjoyed a lively celebration in the event marquee, where heartfelt thanks were given to the dedicated volunteer Health Walk Leaders who make these activities possible. ANGUSalive Chief Executive Kirsty Hunter delivered kind words recognising the invaluable contribution of volunteers to community health and wellbeing.

The Big Angus Walk & Talk was organised by a partnership of ANGUSalive, Angus Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), Angus Council, GOGA Tayside, Paths for All and the many partners involved in Health Walk delivery across Angus, showcasing the strength of collaboration in promoting healthier lifestyles in Angus.

We were thrilled to see so many people come together to celebrate the spirit of volunteering and the success of Health Walks across the county,” said event coordinator Rhona Guild. “These walks help build stronger, healthier communities, and we’re grateful to all our volunteers who make it happen.
