Participants pulled ‘Creative Threads’ from Meffan Museum and Art Gallery Exhibitions in Forfar

‘Creative Threads’, a display of visual art by participants of an Art in Health creative programme run in partnership by Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust (THAT) and ANGUSalive, was held at the Meffan Museum and Art Gallery, Forfar, from 13:30 to 15:00 on Tuesday 31 March 2026.

Led by Artist Jude Gove, the group explored a variety of print, collage and embroidery techniques over the last eight weeks, all inspired by the current exhibitions; Perspectives – Collecting the World and Novel Ideas. This final display was arranged to celebrate the group’s achievements with family and friends.

The programme was the third delivered in partnership by THAT and ANGUSalive for people across Angus who live with a long-term health condition. It was supported by NHS Tayside, Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership, Creative Scotland. NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation and The Gannochy Trust alongside THAT and ANGUSalive.

Lead Artist Jude Gove said, “I really enjoyed working with this group and getting to know everyone. Working inside the gallery itself surrounded by such interesting and inspiring objects has been a real privilege and the participants have made some wonderful artwork as a result.”

THAT Development Officer Karine Neill said, “This is our third partnership programme with ANGUSalive and using the exhibitions as a source of inspiration for the group has been a great basis to work around.  The group have been keen to engage, and the work has been so different and unique to each person. The programme has provided an opportunity to support the participants and introduce them to working within this wonderful space at Meffan Museum and Art Gallery in Forfar.”

Susan Curran, Heritage Learning & Engagement Lead of ANGUSalive museums said “It has been a privilege to spend time with the artist and participants and see each of their unique artworks take shape. It cannot be understated how transformative these activities can be for the participants, and we very much look forward to working on future art programmes with THAT in Angus.”
