Afternoon Talk – Playing with Fire: Woodfired Pottery in Angus and beyond
Join us for an afternoon talk complementing the incredible exhibition Playing with Fire: Woodfired pottery in Angus.
The exhibition brings together functional pottery and some sculptural ceramics from Scotland and around the world including Japan, Brazil, US, Germany, England and Wales.
Presented by a local group who fire pots together, the group of Angus potters erected a kiln and have been firing it for 5 years, learning as they go. Six months ago they constructed a fast fire kiln at Hospitalfield in Arbroath. Through working together (firing over 12-18 hours) they are also building community.
The talk will explain the process of firing clay with wood, to encourage an understanding, and valuing of the results, and inspire others by showing what can be achieved by a group of people working together on a creative project.
Please note that Playing with Fire can be found in the Upper Gallery.
Free event, no booking required.
