Linda’s inspirational journey to fitness

We love to share our members journey to fitness, and Linda Proctor’s story is certainly an inspirational one.

“Hi, I am Linda Proctor, a 67 years old retired nurse, mother of 2, granny to 3, and great granny to 4.

“I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes almost a year ago and I didn’t want to have to go on medication for it. My husband and I celebrate our 50th anniversary next year and have booked a once in a lifetime trip to Japan so we decided we needed to get fit.

“My daughter goes to the BE ACTIVE …live well classes and was telling me I should register for it. She has done extremely well with going there, said it was really good and that everyone was very friendly.

“The gym class is great, I like that there like-minded people as the gym can be very daunting if you don’t know what you’re doing, Susan is a great Coach and very welcoming, all the other members and lovely and friendly – not only do we work hard, we always have a good laugh.

“I did a few classes at another gym years ago but life got in the way and I stopped, now since starting with BE ACTIVE …live well I am going to the gym twice a week and have I also started a few circuit classes a week with Finn and Lydia.

“I am really enjoying all the classes. I now do 7 classes a week and look forward to leaving sweaty and happy. I have also managed to shed 3 stone and hopefully on my next diabetic review the nurse will tell me I am in remission!

“Susan, Lydia and Finn are the main people I see and are all amazing but everyone at the Sports Centre, from the reception to the life guards, and other coaches are always very friendly and polite.

“If I can do it so can you!

“You have nothing to lose everything to gain. I have made new friendships and feel like I have got my life back. I’ve even managed to get my husband to come along so we now do our exercise as a family!

“The pictures are from through my journey to fitness – when I started out, then half-way through, and now. I don’t just feel great I look great too!”
