Toad Patrol
Our ANGUSalive Countryside Adventure Team is calling all nature lovers and conservation champions to join the Toad Patrol at Monikie Country Park.
What is the Toad Patrol?
As the weather warms up at the end of February, through March, and into April (when we’ve had a few rainy days above 5 degrees with no frosty nights) frogs, toads, and newts emerge from their winter hideouts and make their way to the pond to breed. But their journey can be a bit tricky.
We are looking for some people to join our team of volunteers to help these guys safely cross Panmure Road.
Who can help?
People who care about their environment on their doorstep. Armed with buckets, torches, and plenty of enthusiasm, you’ll assist our ranger team in collecting and counting these amphibians before gently placing them in the pond where they belong. We’ll provide everything you need – including high-vis vests and torches (and our friendliest of banter, too) so all you need to bring is a sense of adventure and a love for wildlife.
Why take part?
- Make a Difference: Your efforts directly benefit local wildlife here in Angus and help sustain healthy amphibian populations.
- Hands-On Conservation: Learn more about frogs, toads, and newts and their vital role in our ecosystem.
- Be a Ranger for a Night: See Monikie Country Park in a whole new light as the night comes alive with nature.
