Lighthouse Lives : Film and Talk
Tickets available from £5
Lighthouse Lives is a film commissioned by the Northern Lighthouse Heritage Trust.
It is the culmination of a nine year oral history project, in partnership with The School of Scottish Studies Archives, to record the testimony and stories of the men and women who worked for the Northern Lighthouse Board.
The Film Lighthouse Lives is taken from this archive collection and sets out to capture those authentic voices, with sound archives and film. What was life actually like for families then who lived in the service of the Northern Lighthouse Board. In particular it brings us their lived experience; personal memories and stories, from the most intense years of transition of manned to automated lighthouses.
The film runs for 23 minutes and it will be accompanied by insights from historian and storyteller Erin-Catriona Farley and a fascinating update from the present CEO of the NLB Mike Bullock, guiding us through the service’s current responsibilities “we are responsible for the superintendance and management of all lighthouses, buoys and beacons within Scottish and Manx waters.”
