Celebrating the Success of Angus’s 2025 Summer Reading Challenge

Angus has once again soared to new heights with the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, “Fly High, Read Far, and Let Magic Fill the Air”. This year’s challenge, which ran from June 28 to August 23, invited readers of all ages to embark on a magical journey through six books in eight weeks.

Building on the success of last year’s incredible participation, the 2025 challenge saw enthusiastic readers across Angus sign take part with readers earning their medal and certificate for competing their six books.

During the 8-week challenge, ANGUSalive Libraries saw a total of 1280 (336 Adult and 944 Junior) residents of the Angus sign up to take part. This beats last year’s total by 144 participants! In total, across all seven libraries, two mobile libraries, and our home delivery service, a total of 9411 reading challenge books were issued.

David Main, Libraries & Archives Team Leader said “the annual Summer Reading Challenge is a fun way to encourage and reward everyone who keeps up their reading habits through the school holidays.  This year over 1200 library members read their way through almost 9,500 books, keeping our library teams busy handing out medals and certificates.  It was wonderful to see so many proud selfies on Facebook too as reader after reader completed the challenge.  A huge well done to everyone taking part!”

A heartfelt congratulations goes out to the dedicated ANGUSalive library staff and the passionate readers of Angus for making this year’s Summer Reading Challenge a remarkable success. Your enthusiasm and commitment truly keeps the magic of reading alive!
