Arbroath Signal Tower Museum and Montrose Museum join Good Journey initiative to encourage car-free travel

Arbroath Signal Tower Museum and Montrose Museum are delighted to announce they are now official members of Good Journey, the national scheme helping visitors enjoy days out without the car. Thanks to Museums Galleries Scotland’s Climate team sponsoring the membership costs this new partnership promotes car-free travel, both museums are now featured on the Good Journey website, making it easier for visitors to plan sustainable trips using public transport, walking, or cycling.

To celebrate, visitors who travel car-free can enjoy an exclusive reward: 10% discount in the museum shop when they present a valid train ticket, bus ticket, or even a bike helmet as proof of their journey.

By joining Good Journey, Arbroath Signal Tower Museum and Montrose Museum are supporting greener travel choices and helping to make the local area more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Arbroath Signal Tower Museum is located next to the recently transformed active travel network, encouraging walking and cycling by providing safe and accessible routes, Montrose Museum is located on the path network promoting a visit from Basin to Beach, with easy access from Montrose train station to the museum.

Rachel Jackson, Museums Galleries Archives Operations Lead commented: “We’re proud to be part of the Good Journey network, these museums tell the rich story of Angus’ history and heritage, and now we can also encourage visitors to enjoy a more sustainable way of travelling here.”

Good Journey already works with some of the UK’s best-loved attractions to promote car-free days out, and the inclusion of Arbroath Signal Tower Museum and Montrose Museum highlights their commitment to a greener, more connected visitor experience.

Lucy Neville, Climate and Nature Manager at Museums Galleries Scotland said: “Scotland’s museums and galleries make fantastic car-free days out. We are thrilled to see organisations, such as ANGUSalive, take up this opportunity through our partnership with Good Journey to promote active travel and public transport as a way to engage with local heritage. Strong active and public transport options, and incentives, can widen access to heritage sites as well as helping us take collective climate action.”
