Novel Ideas is an exhibition by Dundee Stitch & Textile Group.

Dundee Stitch & Textile Group was formed in 2021, following changes to the national Embroiderers’ Guild that led to the closure of local branches. In response, local makers came together to ensure that opportunities to learn, share and develop textile skills in Dundee could continue. Since then, our group has grown into a supportive and welcoming community, meeting monthly in the Weaver’s Room at Verdant Works.

Membership includes professional artists working in textiles alongside those who pursue stitch as a hobby or personal interest. Members come from a wide range of backgrounds, some hold formal qualifications in textile arts, while others were first introduced to stitching through family traditions and early experiences. All are welcome to join, especially those who are beginning to explore the creative possibilities of textiles and stitch.
