Swimming
Angus Swim Squads
The Angus Area Swim Squad and Development Swim Squad are put together through partnership working between our Sports Development Team, Angus Swimming Development Group, SportTayside & Fife and our sports centres.
Both squads aim to complement the swimmers’ existing training sessions, providing an opportunity to develop existing skills and techniques and be a stepping-stone towards the District Regional Squad.
Training Sessions
The Area Squad meets at Arbroath Sports Centre once a month and their sessions consist of pool training or both dry land and pool training.
The Development Squad meets once a month at Montrose Sports Centre and is aimed at swimmers who we hope will progress into the Area Squad in years to come.
The commitment from swimmers to the programme is vital. Swimmers are expected to attend all coaching sessions, competitions and education sessions that will be organised by the coaches and our Sports Development Team.
Admission Policies
This applies to all ANGUSalive Swimming Pools including High School Pools.
SUPERVISING ADULT
A responsible person, aged at least 16 years, must accompany a child under the age of eight years, as follows:
- Children must be accompanied in the water at all times by the responsible person
- Whilst in the water, the responsible person should maintain a constant watch over the children they are responsible for and be in close contact with any children who are weak or non-swimmers.
- These ratios are in place for children who are both swimmers and non-swimmers.
- Children 3 years or under on a one-to-one basis
- Children between the ages of 4 and 7 years on a two-to-one basis
FAMILY SWIM SESSIONS
During these sessions (as identified on our timetables), the ratio will be relaxed to allow for the supervision ratio of one adult to two children under the age of 8 as additional lifeguards will be present on the poolside during these sessions. Numbers during these sessions will be limited and all non-swimmers must wear arm bands or similar.
CHANGING AREAS
In the absence of Family Change or Unisex Change facilities, a child aged 7 years or under may be taken by a supervising adult into an opposite-sex (for the child) changing area. As soon as possible, children should be encouraged to change in their own cubicle area. Where provided, customers must use lockers and may not leave their belongings in the changing cubicles.
GROUPS /BIRTHDAY PARTIES
The same ages and ratios also apply to group visits and birthday party sessions.
FAILURE TO COMPLY
If a supervising adult fails to consistently fulfil his or her responsibilities in relation to the ANGUSalive Child Swimming Admission Policy, staff will ask the whole family group to leave the pool area.
Thank you for following this policy which ensures you enjoy a safe swim.
