Meet Campbell Archibald: ANGUSalive’s newest board member

Six months ago, ANGUSalive welcomed aboard Campbell Archibald, a local entrepreneur with a passion for his local community.

Campbell’s decision to join was driven by a desire to take lessons he’s learned from his career and business ventures and pour them in to ANGUSalive to help the organisation grow and we’re delighted to have him on board.

Reflecting on his decision to become part of ANGUSalive, Campbell shared, “I was drawn to ANGUSalive for many reasons, but perhaps most importantly is that I’m a local person and having grown up in Monikie, I am really passionate about Angus. I know full well how much enjoyment I had growing up here, so it was an easy decision when asked to come on board.”

Since joining ANGUSalive, Archibald has observed a lot of the work that ANGUSalive does and although he’s been impressed, has a real appetite to do even more.

“What I’ve noticed is that we already do some really good things.” Continued Campbell.

“I was surprised we do so much! I want to help the community learn about these and go even further with the offering. There are some great services that ANGUSalive provides and even though there may be challenging times ahead, there’s potential to do even more”.

Campbell has had a successful but varied career, which initially started as a Gas Turbine Mechanical Apprentice, in GTC Gas Turbines Dundee, before moving to Aberdeen and working with Blue Chip suppliers prior to starting Alba Power in 1999. He has since gone on to build Alba Power across 3 continents and 120 personnel, prior to a purchase in 2019 by Swiss major Sulzer. After successful handover Campbell has subsequently invested in several local businesses and launching some of his own.

And it’s this knowledge that Campbell is looking to impart on to ANGUSalive.

I’ve learned a lot from my career, which has taken me to all sorts of weird and wonderful places. I am hopeful that my experience will contribute to the future growth of the organisation and I’m looking forward to cracking on with the rest of 2024. There’s some exciting things coming up, and I’m looking forward to taking it all in”.

The ANGUSalive board is made up of 11 people, a combination of local councillors and business people that help steer the direction of ANGUSalive. They meet regularly throughout the year to discuss activity and forward planning for the charity.
