ANGUSalive Sports Awards 2018

Shortlist Announced!

ANGUSalive, the culture, sport and leisure trust for the county of Angus, wishes to thank everyone who took the time to nominate in the ANGUSalive Sports Awards 2018 and extends a warm congratulations to all those nominated.

The independent panel, comprising representatives from Angus Active Schools, Dundee & Angus College, sportscotland, Scottish Disability Sport and an ANGUSalive Independent Board Member, met on Thursday 18 January to review the high calibre of local sports stars, coaches, volunteers and teams nominated in each of the nine categories.

Following the panel discussions, ANGUSalive announces the shortlist for the nine award categories as follows:

Club Volunteer of the Year Award (Voluntary Action Angus)

This award aims to recognise an individual within any role who has made a positive impact within a specific club role in 2018.

Coach of the Year (Forbes of Kingennie)

This award aims to recognise the achievements and commitment of a sports coach throughout 2018; nominations for this award apply to coaches at all levels.

Outstanding Commitment Award (Dundee & Angus College)

This award aims to recognise someone's longevity in a role or number of roles within the sporting community, who has demonstrated an exceptional contribution over a number of years. Nominees must not be a performer/competitor. Former winners of this award (previously Service to Sport) are not eligible for re-nomination.

School Sports Volunteer of the Year Award (Angus Active Schools)

This award aims to recognise the above and beyond commitment made to extra-curricular sport across Angus schools.

Sports Personality of the Year (Precor Ltd)

This award aims to recognise the outstanding performance at a national level or above of an athlete during 2018 and has shown a high level of dedication and commitment.

Sports Personality of the Year Award for People with a Disability (Angus Disability Sport and Special Olympics)

This award aims to recognise an individual with a physical, sensory or learning disability who excelled in sporting competition during 2018.

Young Sports Personality of the Year (R & P.M Thomson)

This award aims to recognise the outstanding performance at a national level or above of a junior athlete during 2018 and has shown a high level of dedication and commitment.

Group Awards

Club of the Year (Angus Community Sports Hubs / Brechin Beavers Swimming Club)

This award is open to clubs or groups at all levels within the sporting community and requires elements of achievement in competitions/leagues, areas of club development, successful funding applications and new projects during 2018.

Team of the Year (Angus Community Sport Hubs / Brechin Community Sports Hub)

This award applies to a voluntary sports team taking part in a sporting discipline, individual sport or event where they have demonstrated success and development in their team performance during 2018.

All nominees, family, friends, club supporters are invited to join us for the awards ceremony on Friday 8 March 2019 at the Reid Hall, Forfar. The shortlist finalist will receive one complimentary ticket to the evening.

Tickets are now sold out for this year's event.
