ANGUSalive is proud to bring you an extensively refurbished Carnoustie Library. Opening at 10am on Monday 4 September, your new flexible community space delivers all of your well-loved library services and activities, face-to-face Angus Council customer services as well as community learning resources with some exciting new twists.

The main chapters of the new Carnoustie Library deliver a magical children's area; for reading and play, there is the Pitairlie Pod, suitable for small meetings, group study or client meetings and the Lochty Gallery which offers a digitally enabled and accessible space for community, professional and commercial exhibitions, large group activities, meetings or private functions such as weddings, parties or celebrations. Visitors have access to computers via the Peoples' Network and can enjoy free Wi-Fi. With in-house hot drinks available for purchase - come along and let your new ANGUSalive Library surprise you!

The first edition of Carnoustie's Library current building dates back to 1970s designed by Scottish architects Baxter, Clark & Paul. Today's new modern space is the first ANGUSalive Library to undergo a major transformation.

Aurora MacKintosh, Facilities Officer, ANGUSalive's Carnoustie Library commented:

"I can't wait to welcome our customers, old and new, to this fantastic new space. I'm proud to have worked on developing such a high-quality facility for our community and our team is looking forward to delivering first-class services from our modern, new library home here in Carnoustie. We hope that many in the community as possible will come along to see us and enjoy the new space - please pop in, have a look around and tell us what you think. We're particularly looking forward to welcoming you all to our opening events, especially the grand opening day on Saturday 9 September at 11am - come and celebrate with us!"

The project was funded by Angus Council under major capital improvement works; scheduled to reinvigorate five ANGUSalive Libraries over the next two years.

The council's communities vice-convener Councillor Lois Speed said:

"We are delighted with the results of our investment and confident that with this first-class community facility ANGUSalive will inspire Carnoustie folk to enjoy their library experience for generations to come - be sure to go along to many of the events during launch week."

ANGUSalive's full programme of events, available at ANGUSalive Libraries Facebook page, begins on Monday 4 until Saturday 16 September and includes the grand opening on Saturday 9 September, with delicious cake from The J.M Bakery and entertainment from the Carnoustie Brass Band and kids can enjoy some face painting with Happy Faces Face Painting, by Niona Souter. On Saturday 16 September, Carnoustie Library asks you to 'Gather with us' for an afternoon of gin, readings and quizzical fun hosted by local foodie Bethany Bowles.
